After recent events (not just the MJ thing, several other private things in confluence with that), I've decided to stop kidding myself with the whole "doing the right thing" thing.

I'm going to get rid of the whole governance structure (that nobody but I have read in detail), and stop letting what I think is the "right thing to do" or "who owns the system" force me into saying things or making decisions I'm unhappy with. After all, no matter what I think to myself, everyone else will see it as an excuse, and, perhaps that means objectively it is an excuse.

Instead, I'll just do whatever I want to do with the cc system, and all associated technology. From a legal perspective, I own the code after all.

This isn't to scare you, whoever's reading this, I'm not going to suddenly be unreasonable (or, more unreasonable than how you know I am, lol). I will still commit to not changing anything major without notice, or without giving people an opportunity to change my mind. Nothing physically will change for now (I'm not going to boot anyone off the system, lol), except for me just thinking about this differently, and choosing to not be anxious about what the right thing to do is.

People say I'm easily convinced. This might be true, but whatever, you can convince me if you feel inclined to, on whatever platform you have access to me on. I continue to maintain a personal policy of never blocking anyone except in cases of literal spam, because I value not shutting down people who question even my strongest convictions. In the same vein, this forum will stay online, because if multiple people try to tell me to do different things, both of which I'm okay with (note that this is a lower bar than "I myself feel strongly about this"), I'll tell both of them to post on this forum, let them argue in public, and then decide after that.

I'm not going to fight for any opinions I don't strongly believe myself, on anyone's behalf anymore. I think this is the best way forward. I think the only potentially-unreasonable part of this decision is that, if people want to fight for opinions they strongly believe in, I'm requiring them do so in public, specifically, in the same room as the people they disagree with, instead of against me in private, when I don't have strong opinions. I think this is an acceptable and necessary cost.

I'm making this post in case anyone wants to try to change my mind about this. As always, I'm open to all opinions to try to change my mind, and will consider any expressed opinions seriously. This is, at least nominally, a proposal under the previous governance system. I don't expect anyone to really be in favor of the convoluted way I have previously set this up, though.
