Kuilin,
It is with great sorrow to read your note on the upcoming shutdown notice. As a fellow introvert, I understand your concepts of social anxiety. The online space allows for folks like us to flourish, in a safe space where we are protected but are allowed to voice ourselves. It is in this technological beauty we are allowed a social outfit outside of what may be considered normal.
About me. I am a 40 year old who holds two Master degrees. I started at a Community College on Pell Grants. I work full time. I have been working in programming/engineering for over 20 years of my life. I have a family. I lead a team at work. And I have been playing Clash of Clans for a long.. long time. 10 years easily. Half of that is with FWA. When you ran into hosting issues some time ago, I offered to fully pay hosting costs for Chocolate Clash to Band FWA admins, but the admins noted it was relayed and it was declined, and I understand. From your notice you say it isn't about the money. I respect that.
About me in Clash. I am the Leader of Reddit Yankee, an FWA clan since 2019, and have a deep respect for the FWA community, admins, and members. I can only imagine the sheer amount of work it takes to keep FWA running, especially given it is volunteer work, for the love of Clash of Clans and the FWA community. You can read about us and our backstory at our website here: https://www.teamrdyk.com If you do decide to read my postings, you will see that even in our 10 year history as a clan has been some drama. It is only natural and is just a course of life. Yet we prevail. And it is with this passion for Clash and FWA that I hope your work will continue.
We also have a Discord if you'd like to chat with me directly at https://discord.teamrdyk.com. I'm obviously on Band as well.
To learn you started developing this when you were in high school says so much about you. Just, wow. Look at what you have helped build. I hope you realize the thousands and thousands of players who, admittedly, may take you for granted, by not knowing all of your great contributions to create the backbone that allows us the FWA community to flourish. But I do. And I want to thank you. Often times the greatest people may be in the shadows, going unnoticed, until they stop doing whatever it is they were doing, and the realization hits: They were the one.
This is why, when reading your shutdown notice, it saddens me. I feel it is only right to toss my hat into the ring. To try and do whatever is necessary to keep FWA alive. Whether that is paying for hosting, whether it is maintaining your project, whatever it is I can do to help keep FWA alive for all of us.
I am open to learning about your terms, I am open to learning more about you, I am open to do whatever is necessary to keep FWA alive. And I know with my heart that all of us who participate in FWA want to see that continued in the future as well.
Thank you for your contributions. Thank you for your time. Thank you for what you have built. Thank you for your consideration.
Respectfully,
flashBang
